Jeune Musique SA, the publishing house created in 1967 by Claude François, whose catalogue notably includes the international hit “My Way”, was bought by Because Group in November 2009, in association with a group of financial investors, including Alexandre Kartalis, Xavier Niel (majority shareholder of Iliad/Free) and Olivier Rosenfeld. Together they formed a holding company whose role is to acquire other editorial catalogues.
With more than a thousand variations in dozens of languages, “My Way” is Paul Anka’s English-language adaptation of the hit “Comme d’habitude”, the copyright of which is one of the most important in the world in the field of music publishing. Frank Sinatra made “My Way” famous in the 1960s and it was then covered by a variety of stars including Elvis Presley, Julio Iglesias, Céline Dion, Sid Vicious, Luciano Pavarotti and more recently Robbie Williams. “My Way” is one of the three most covered songs in the world.
